On line engagement rings and computer repairs

Six weeks before the wedding and the lucky couple were on line comparison shopping for engagement rings when a complete and total disaster struck and left them dumbfounded. A virus had wormed its way into the computer system, one minute they were happily shopping and the next minute the entire system had crashed leaving all of their crucial and irreplaceable planning information completely inaccessible. What was to be done? Luckily a family member knew that a mobile computer doctor could be contacted to come directly to the house to analyze the problem and to affect the needed repairs right there in the home. Imagine the consternation created by the situation, the only completed guest list was, of course stored in a file on the computer and that list must be delivered to the printers forthwith in order to have the invitations printed in time to get responses.

Now all thought of choosing engagement rings have to be put aside during the anxious and agonizing wait for the computer expert to arrive and, with great hope, put things right. No one dares think of the ensuing chaos that will be bound to happen if the even simple things cannot be recovered, Who could possible remember every item of a menu that covers eight courses or the ticket numbers of the fantastic tropical cruise that has already been booked for the honeymoon journey? Surely those present that are not biting their nails to the quick are sitting hopefully with their fingers crossed. Sighs of relief are quite audible when the computer man arrives and when the depths of the problem are adequately explained the technician will surely smile with the absolute assurance that the information stored on the computer whether it is confidential financial data or dinner seating arrangements all concerned should rest assured that every possible step will be taken to recover that lost data.

The capabilities and the inner workings of computers are of a mysterious, arcane nature to most of the general populace as most people simply accept that the machines work and never peer into the how or the why of the actual operation. But when an entire wedding is relying on the capabilities of a single technical wizard it would be easy to understand the number of questions that are all being asked at the same time. And after a short period of time the bits and bytes begin to arrange themselves into readable patterns and the lost ticket numbers are found and the guest list reappears like magic from the ether of confusion that had once swallowed it. Cheers and a round of applause accompany the retrieval of the bride's maids dress patterns and the forgotten name of the photographer to record the event. Relief is obvious as the worker of miracles finally steps back and delivers a clean bill of health for the computer system. And now finally the couple can confidently resume the hunt on line for engagement rings.
